Butter Cake with Maple Buttercream Icing & BACON in the middle!

There is a local store that sells cupcakes with Maple (Real Vermont of course) Buttercream Icing & a slice of bacon on top. We went there one day to buy one but they didn't have any. I was disappointed & mentioned it to a friend who suggested I make my own. That's what I did & here's the results! It was SO good...however we decided that it's best to take the bacon out before you eat the cake or else the bacon overpowers the cake. When you remove the bacon it leaves the flavor on top of the maple buttercream filling & is to die for!

St. Patrick's Day Cakes

When you think "St. Patrick's Day" what comes to mind? For me it is Guinness & Bailey's Irish Cream...as well as shamrocks & leprechaun's. I had so much fun this year making a Chocolate Guinness Cake with my Bailey's Buttercream icing!

Fun with Fondant

When people hear "fondant" they think "YUCK"! However, my homemade buttercream fondant is melt in your mouth delicious & is a great addition to any cake! I can flavor it any of the same flavors as the filling you pick out. Here are some examples:

Character & Shaped Cakes

Character cakes are so much fun to make & children (& adults) love them! Wilton makes some awesome character cake pans. The cakes are just a single layer cake (without a filling) and are covered in buttercream icing (with your choice of flavor). The possibilities are unlimited with these cake pans. Here are some of the ones that I've made.

The first shaped cake I did. A flower for my niece's 2nd birthday! Chocolate cake with cream cheese frosting & buttercream icing for the decorating.

This was a cake for my fiance's birthday. Chocolate cake with chocolate & vanilla buttercream icing.

Think Spring!

March has arrived. Although here in VT it doesn't feel that way, that doesn't mean that we can't get into the spring mood. This is a 6", 2 layer, lemon cake with vanilla buttercream icing. The flowers are also buttercream. A design like this would be great for Mother's Day (hint, hint)!
