There is a local store that sells cupcakes with Maple (Real Vermont of course) Buttercream Icing & a slice of bacon on top. We went there one day to buy one but they didn't have any. I was disappointed & mentioned it to a friend who suggested I make my own. That's what I did & here's the results! It was SO good...however we decided that it's best to take the bacon out before you eat the cake or else the bacon overpowers the cake. When you remove the bacon it leaves the flavor on top of the maple buttercream filling & is to die for!
